Democratic advocacy has shaped Andrés Segovia-Moreno’s trajectory since his university years in Venezuela. In 2017, he joined Vente Venezuela and began working alongside María Corina Machado, recipient of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, contributing to the movement’s organizational and democratic efforts. From 2017 through 2021, Segovia-Moreno helped build and coordinate the party Vente Venezuela in the State of Trujillo. His activism brought personal consequences, including threats from regional government authorities, harassment by political-police forces, and physical assaults. These experiences reinforced his commitment to human rights and democratic advocacy. After leaving Venezuela, he continued his civic work from abroad. In Washington, D.C., he has participated in numerous initiatives to coordinate the Venezuelan diaspora, promote democratic restoration, raise international awareness of Venezuela’s crisis, and support Venezuelans seeking to exercise their political and civic rights.

DEMOCRATIC ADVOCACY & CIVIC LEADERSHIP

His organizational work includes coordinating Colegios Ciudadanos (something like “citizen caucuses") within Vente Venezuela, helping Venezuelans abroad organize around the defense of their rights and the pursuit of voting opportunities outside Venezuela. He continues to contribute to diaspora organization and democratic initiatives from the United States. Throughout this trajectory, Segovia-Moreno has met with U.S. and international political figures and participated in forums and advocacy initiatives to present Venezuela’s democratic and human-rights situation. His experience combines political organization, international advocacy, strategic communications, and firsthand knowledge of Venezuela’s freedom movement.
